The Police Quest... Call of Duty

Post by AndreaDraco »

Yeah, yeah, I know: wrong franchise! :P

Anyway, the matter is pretty simple: as you may know, Jim Walls, creator of the Police Quest series, is considering Kickstarter to fund another police-related adventure project. And of course we want to show our support!

What better way than improve and complete our Police Quest site?

Quick history lesson for those of you who weren't there: back in 2008, when the old Sierra forums closed, the community gathered around this board and Rudy's Sierra Chest. But there were other places, like the the Gabriel Knight 4 Campaign forum and the Quest for More Glory one. Almost every Sierra adventure series had its own little place on the net and soon we thought: why not create boards also for the remaining series? And so Tawmis opened LarryLaffer.net and me and Almirena (Hello, dear, we miss you! Pop by and say hi, sometimes!) joined our efforts to create the Police Quest Series fansite. However, soon after the inception of the site, Almirena had some problems and reluctantly left the community and, some weeks after that, I started working and had almost no time to dedicate to the site. On top of that, I never had any FTP access to the site and for a long time it looked that the PQ site would follow the fate of the GK one.

However, the mighty Collector stepped in. He has FTP access to the site and has kindly offered to help me with the site. Problem is, like many of you guys already know, this past year I took a specialistic course in Publishing and now I've just started working in this hectic business. Since, after my internship, I'm kind of a freelence editor/proofreader/(hopefully) translator, I can work from home but I usually have to work on week-ends too. So, to make a long story short, I'm pretty busy. In 2008 I was still a student and all the time in the world on my hands. This day, not so much. And I usually spend the precious free time that I have with my boyfriend, doing my own writing, reading and playing.

Does this mean that I don't have an hour here and there to write something for the site? Of course not! But - and finally, after this rather long premise, I come to the point of this thread - I would really need some help. First of all, let me say that I will gladly continue to pay the annual fee for the domain, so that's not a problem. What I need help with is the bulk of contents for the site: walkthroughs (it's been ages since I played the games and, besides, I've never written a walkthrough), reviews, in-depth analysis, characters' profiles, a list of ester eggs, etc.

So: is there someone who'd like to help? :D

Regarding PQ walkthroughs, they're all in SHP section for walkthroughs. There's also a small list of PQ Easter Eggs, although it only seems to cover PQ1 (AGI), PQ2 and PQ4.

The other stuff you mentioned would need be written, but at least some of the work is already done.

I have quite a bit going on, but if you need specific things, I can probably help here and there!

The original idea, with Almirena, was to write these walkthroughs from Sonny's PoV. However, this would probably be too much of a hassle.

You can take whatever you like from the Chest. It has complete text walkthroughs, screenshots, music, videos, you name it, of PQ1 (AGI and SCI), PQ2 and PQ3. Still working on PQ4 and Iceman.

PS: special day for Jim Walls today: he became a great granddad.

Thanks Rudy, you're very kind. However, I wouldn't like to "rob" you too much! :P

Kind of weird that that's reached the public, I wouldn't think that he's all that well known today.

Jim posted it on one of the Sierra FB group pages.
