Is there something specific about that you want to discuss? Instead of just throwing out a link to a 3.5 year old review, tell us what you think about it.

In terms of points of fact, the review seems pretty accurate, at least with the information available at the time (at the time, there may have been hopes for future LSL remakes, but that's no longer the case). The rest, however, is either snark or opinion, so "true" doesn't really apply. I don't find the review in general particularly objectionable.

So, why did you bring it up?

Whoops! Sorry, I didn't pay attention to the date. The consensus around here seemed to be, at the time, that LSLR was simply a rehash of the older LSL1 games. I simply found the review interesting, in that it makes the game sound like it's not so horrible after all. So, I was simply wondering if it's worth a shot. :)

Well, it is a remake, so calling it "simply a rehash" isn't really inaccurate. There are some parts of the game that the remake improved. The are some parts that it didn't improve enough. And there are some parts that are pretty core to the original's design, so changing them wouldn't really be possible in a remake.

I personally don't think LSL1 is a good game or particularly worth playing, but if you're intrigued and think you'd enjoy it, go ahead and try it.

If you're looking for completion... There's a lot of added Larry jokes and being retold in Jan Rabson's voice is an awesome bonus, but the narrator is tedious and the animation is very poor, wrecking the dance scene and the ending. The slot machines don't save the height of your bet (lots of pressing "up) and because there's no limit to how much you can get, there's a good chance you'll gamble/savescum too much and then lose it all.
I'd sooner recommend the original LSL1, which at least isn't linear and has the best Sierra text parser by far.

Haven't we had this discussion before?

Not sure... have we? I can't remember, sorry. :(

LSL2 or LSL3 are two games that I'd love to see being remade - especially LSL2, since it was so full of deaths, and it was so easy to die.

Yes. The last discussion is still on the first page.

LSL2 is really a nightmare of dead ends and unexpected deaths. but those are so core to its design that it's hard to imagine a remake "fixing" them while still being LSL2.

LSL1R is a "rehash" of the original; but some of the puzzles have changed slightly, and they added a new area and woman (which isn't much).

If you enjoyed the original (and original remake), I'd say it's worth a shot. I enjoyed the game. The only regret I have of the game, is that it helped support Paul Trowe.
