Designing Shivers III

Post by Tawmis »

The idea came to me to post some threads about other Sierra games, when I was just digging through my email and found an ancient story I had written where the next King's Quest game would be Edgar (from King's Quest IV) seeking out Rosella to try and win her hand in marriage. It was, in my head, a cool idea because Edgar would technically be a king (with his mother - spoilers! - now dead).

So, I thought - given the chance, if you were brought in to help, or pitch ideas, or help direct (so let's avoid answers like, "I'd call in Jane Jensen/Al Lowe/Roberta Willians/Scott Murphy/Mark Crowe/Jim Walls/Christy Marx/etc" - and assume they're there too  ) - to work on the next game.

So in this case - if you were a part of the creative team, what would you hope for in the next SHIVERS III?

Keep in mind that like a couple of other "series" like Phantasmagoria or the Conquest games a new Shivers would not be a sequel, but a completely new game/new characters/etc. than either of the first two, just a common theme. Something spooky, supernatural and dangerous, possibly dealing with (evil?) spirits of some kind.

Ooh!
At the moment I'm really into Japan so I'd like to see some horror taking place in a traditional Japanese environment - still can't get enough of watching Fatal Frame one through five playthroughs. I doubt I can play them because of the FPS elements...

Mind you any ancient culture gets me going. I'd never heard of the Anasazi before Tex Murphy's Overseer, but they're fascinating! I loved the use of American cultures since I don't know much about them.
There's a new script around: PHANTASMAGORIA - A Puzzle Of Flesh! Check the Script Party topic in the Bard's Forum!
