I heard in recent days about the extreme heatwave currently engulfing parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa. This is now <on top of> the heatwaves affecting the western United States (that apparently have been there since May).

So, this is just a shout-out to everyone who's been affected. I hope everyone's OK. Please, please stay cool, and drink lots of water. Dehydration is a bugger. (I've been dehydrated myself, it's not fun).

Does anyone know what's going on? The news seem to portray that the entire planet is suddenly on fire (except for the South Pacific and Australasia, that is). Is this true?

I like the current weather here, warm but not too warm and with occasional drizzle. In my job I work with Romanians, who are suffering. Today I countered an SOS case where clients had to leave the holiday home because it was too hot.
