Just finished it today. Have to say, not as charming as the first one, but still a good game.
I also found it considerably harder. Especially after Adam is captured by the bad guy. Can't count how many times I failed (thankfully you don't die) that whole area.
There was also the leaf to bat thing... which, I couldn't find the logic to, so I just started guessing until they accepted it.
Video is converting right now, then I can splice and render and upload.

Re: Let's Play Sierra Games - EcoQuest II
I do remember it being a bit more challenging. It is a little funny that we all call it EcoQuest 2, but EcoQuest doesn't appear anywhere in the game. Not on the box or in the in-game title screen.
I don't remember the leaf to bat thing.

I think we call it EcoQuest 2, because it's a (clear) continuation of the first with the same exact theme (well, except for he picks up way less litter in the second one. Like WAY less.) All they did was "rebrand" it as the "Discovery Series."notbobsmith wrote: ↑Sun Jun 01, 2025 11:51 pm I do remember it being a bit more challenging. As for the bat leaf thing - happens after the fire that burns down everything. In order to continue, the bat refuge leader gives you leaves to give to the other bats - but as far as I could tell (even looked at the manual to see if there was something in there that would allude to it - like "This kind of plant was in Mexico" - "Ah, ha! The Mexican bat gets that!" However, that said - I do now wonder, if it's in the device that you use to get information... you can get information on the bats (but not on the leaves you're given, because I tried that...)
Seemed very random. So I just stuck to one leaf eventually and went to each bat until it was the right one. Rinse repeat with all five leaves.

Now I remember. Yes, you look up information on the bats in that computer device and match it with the leaf.Tawmis wrote: ↑Mon Jun 02, 2025 1:18 amI think we call it EcoQuest 2, because it's a (clear) continuation of the first with the same exact theme (well, except for he picks up way less litter in the second one. Re: Let's Play Sierra Games - EcoQuest II
Just finished your commentary video. I only played it recently so I don't have any nostalgia for it, but it is a perfectly fine game. And I also found it a bit more challenging than the first one. I also spent the most time at the camp. There are a lot of things to do, and having to constantly hide from the henchman makes exploration slow. I had a score of 916 my first playthrough. I'm not sure what you missed. You were diligent with the scanner, so you got all of those points. Other than that, a few notes:
42:10 - I never noticed that there wasn't a way to get up or down. I guess the artists could have put a ladder off the the side and out of reach.
43:00 - I'm pretty sure I found that note by accident too.
44:00 - The password is "RETHGUALS", which is "Slaughter", the villain, backwards. Better than "password1" I suppose.
1:12:00 - Good point about the sea monster. Yes, the game has talking animal, but they are animals and the game is about ecology, the environment, and wildlife. A monster or mythical creature does feel out of place.

Yeah - I am not sure where I missed points at (I still have not looked at a walkthrough to see where the points I missed might reside!) I am sure there was something I didn't look at first before picking up that probably cost me some points.notbobsmith wrote: ↑Fri Jun 13, 2025 12:26 am Just finished your commentary video. Yeah, the ladder thing in that building is weird - because he's clearly getting up and down each time he ties you up!
I am upset that I didn't realize it was "Slaughter" spelled backwards. lol
Yeah - the sea monster was a weird thing to suddenly throw in there. Not sure why they didn't go with some other realistic animal. But I guess when you're finding the Fountain of Youth (which by the way would have been a world changer, so I am assuming Adam kept quiet about that too)...
