So, Sierra (back in the day!) did a great job of hitting every corner of the market with their "Adventure" games...
For Fantasy (and even children, initially) - King's Quest, Black Cauldron
For Stories - Conquest series
For RPG - Quest for Glory
For SciFi - Space Quest, Manhunter
For "Adult" humor - Leisure Suit Larry
For Realism - Police Quest, Codename: Iceman
Education - EcoQuest
For Fiction - Gabriel Knight
Historical - Gold Rush
Among many others...
What are some games you'd wish they'd done? (And it can even be a type of game they have already done; for example, I mention Space Quest as scifi, but maybe you wanted a serious SciFi on the caliber of GK type story telling?)

Laugh Quest (comedy) - Play a vaudevillian touring the country during the roaring 20s, stopping at every two-bit club in America on your quest to hit it big. Customize the act; keep the bits that earn big laughs and ditch the ones that bore. But remember, life is about the journey, not the destination, and the journey is oftentimes funnier than what's onstage in this comedic adventure. Bonus points if you can make the southern redhead reporter write a positive notice of your performance.

Re: Sierra Presents...
The Wild West Quest (Working Title) - Essentially do a "Life on the Frontiers" - Frontiers Men/Women And Indians" kind of thing.
Sort of a mixture of RTS and Adventure Games, where you play the cowboys and need to gather supplies. Along the lines, you would have quest like stuff, "Well, Jacob, I could give you this wood if only the wife and I had some food to eat. But with my bad leg, I can't go hunting." So you gather food supplies for them, in exchange for the wood. The point of the game would be as the Frontiers side (if you picked them) to earn the trust of the local Indians to prevent a brewing war. And if you pick the Indians faction, you have a similar quest where you work with several White Men, but some are looking to betray you, so you have to watch out who you trust; but ultimately you want a peaceful resolution to the brewing war. It would work similar to the "Bioware Dialogue Tree", where things you say and do have consequences, and each action has a "Point" value associated to it.
So you might be in a situation as one of the Frontiers, that a family is desperately hungry. You know a good hunting ground area, that's protected by the Indians. Violating their trust by hunting there will cost you 10 Faction points with the Indians, but letting the family die of starvation will cost you 15 faction points with the Frontier. So you have to maintain a balance throughout the quest. (Or you can go "dark" and purposely trigger an all out war, with consequences to your people and those you oppose).

Re: Sierra Presents...
A flim noir adventure/mystery game. I know Laura Bow is kind of like that, but one that's actually black and white and takes place in a city in the 30s or 40s or something with high contrasting grayscale backgrounds. Complete with "that narration", fedoras and all. Perhaps it could be stylized like anywhere that has blood like a crime scene or a clue or something will have the colour red.

A sort of Tex Murphy in B&W? GK without the supernatural?

Mmm. Except a little more stereotypical. And not as light-hearted as Tex. Put a bit of Police Quest in there (without the procedures).

Re: Sierra Presents...
Policy Quest - you've just won the election and become President. Congratulations! Now here's the real test: survive for a week as President, with different lobbies hammering at you on all sides. Can you covertly re-write the Constitution to give yourself more power while resisting calls from the ACLU for more freedom for the "ordinary people"? Can you strike a balance between the employers and the unions? And how about that pesky Middle East, eh - can you fly in for a few photo opportunities, make some empty promises that sound good, and fly out again without committing embarrassing gaffes?
The world isn't sitting still while you're doing that, of course. Can you deflect criticism from Putin that you are a "girly-girly man" and from Kim Jong Un that your nuclear arsenal is smaller than his? Will criticism from Chinese President Xi Jinping sour your outlook and lead you to impose sanctions, or will it be just water off a duck's back for you?
All this and more on Policy Quest! Many people feel they can do better than the President - why not give it a try?

Re: Sierra Presents...
That sounds more like a strategy/simulation type game. However, I do like the idea of playing the most powerful person in the United States with a mystery/conspiracy story revealing that you actually aren't the most powerful person in the country and you discover a plot or something that you can't reveal and it's up to you to deal with it yourself. Some puzzles would involve getting away from your secret service protectors so that you can deal with certain situations. A tagline like "You've just become the most powerful person in the world-" (hey, for marketing) "-but that's not going to be enough." I don't know, the idea of being super powerful in the mind of the people and then discovering you've only entered a new level of pawns appeals to me. None of the previous presidents would do anything about the problem (whatever it is), but you decide to change things.

The problem? How about global warming?MusicallyInspired wrote: ↑Sat Feb 16, 2019 11:16 am None of the previous presidents would do anything about the problem (whatever it is), but you decide to change things.
Global warming has become such a hot-button topic that you, the President, decide to do something about it. There will be lots of votes in it for you - and besides, the Alaskan glaciers have now become the Great Alaskan Lakes, so those pesky Greenies might have a point.
