Since I was doing a theme of Star Wars titles for the episode; figured I'd do that again!

Isn't Pawl a cleric? Clerics don't rage, do they? Only barbarians do. I didn't think dwarves could rage, either.

Actually, for the show, we never truly picked a "class" for Pawl. He was simply a "Dorf" (Dwarf), unlike Peter (The Ranger) and Grayson (The Fighter).
Pawl not having any class (heh) is actually a reference to the first edition of D&D - where being a Dwarf was your race and your class (which essentially was the Fighter class; they could not be any other class).

It's true - Pawl does sound very different. It's hard to understand him sometimes.

The accent is pretty thick. You can read the Easter Egg page about this very episode which explains a few things.

What's all this about Steve being invisible?

This was a part of that contest. Travis Richards (who also does our music; except for the opening theme) made a bard (Dimi, the one who talks to Grayson about his sword; and in this episode is seen talking to Andrea/Ruth), who - everyone thinks - talks to himself, when in truth, he has an actual invisible friend (Steve). However, his invisible friend (Steve) can see himself, but nothing else (including Dimi). So he (Steve) thinks everyone else is invisible, and he's the only one who is visible.

Also, what's with the new closing music? I like it, it's just different.

That's the "Prison" song Travis made; I think I used it for all the ending credits so far for the third season (because they were in prison).

It's Ellen (seen dying at the beginning of the episode, thanks to Evil Foo). Ellen and Dink perished in Episode 37.
But since this is Episode 49, I figured people would have forgotten that - which is why I did the "Previously on Episode 37" - showing Ellen and Dink getting killed.
(Then everyone kills Evil Foo).
This is why Albert, Bob and Charlie pay for her resurrection.
But when they returned to the goblin cave, Albert, Bob and Charlie were arrested (for abandoning their post, according to the "Goblin King").
Why wasn't Ellen arrested? Well, because she was 6 hours behind (due to the resurrection time it takes to resurrect someone).
So when she arrived she'd heard that they were in jail and needed to rescue them once she learned the Goblin King wasn't what he appeared to be.

That was the subtle joke. (Well, every RPG really... you can walk into someone's house and typically rifle through all their belongings...)

That is Alan the Astounding, from all the way back in Episode 06 when Peter and Grayson first encounter him. He's the drunkened wizard.
They take his money pouch and leave when he passes out.
He appears again, briefly in Episode 15. He proclaims they took his cat - this he senses because of Peter's "Animal Companion" Spell.
He shows up at the dock where Andrea the Assassin is in the same episode before he passes out. The intent was to have Alan the Astounding be Andrea's wizard companion. But the voice actor/friend, couldn't commit the time, which is why we ended up introducing Daniel the Destructive (voiced by another friend) to be her companion.

Albert's ridiculous wild guess turns out to be right.

I literally looked through the Dungeon Master's Guide for various magical items to use as a reference as some wild idea of who the Goblin King is. So having Albert guess correctly is naturally, unbelievable.

Very, very funny episode, Tawm. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Grayson and Peter have escaped the Crimson Draco Prison thanks to Amiee the Armorer's help - and she lays down some heavy information about Destiny and Dragons (D&D?)... but is Peter right about what he said in this episode? What did he say? Guess you will have to watch it!

Er ... I don't understand what Amiee is saying - so I turned on the captions. It says "The star trail is a trail of stars, woven by the goddess ... men?" I'm confused. I don't think there is a goddess called "men".

"Trust me: Peter's never right." And then, of course ... weird guys in Draco Legion armour show up. Maybe Peter is right for once. Maybe it's just chance. Or, maybe he got lucky and talked to a deer - and maybe it said "please don't eat me", but Peter made up all this stuff to sound impressive)?

Another fun episode (but yes, heavy on exposition). How far is it to the Star Trail?

Notice the deer didn't run from Peter. And there is a large influx of animals all around them.
Has Peter gotten better at this animal thing...?

This was a (perhaps too) subtle joke going all the way back to the first few episodes where they argue about the moss that grows on trees.

She's saying, "woven by the goddess, Nen."
Grayson also makes reference to the Goddess Nen, back in like, episode 13 or so.
The goddess, named Nen is (if it's not obvious) an acronym of "NeverEnding Nights"
NeN was what everyone called our series back in the day (similar to how they called the series "Red vs Blue" simply "RvB", the most popular machinima series ever)

Well the series only runs 65 episodes, and we're on 50. So you can bet that they better find it soon!

Oh! I was trying to think of all the D&D gods/goddesses I could remember, but I couldn't remember anything remotely like "men" or "Nen". Thanks for explaining. The closest I could think of, on the spur of the moment, was Lolth - and that's only because both names have just one syllable.

But then, if one syllable is all it takes ... what about Gruumsh, or Helm, or Tyr, or...?

Come to think of it, how many D&D deities have just one syllable in their name? I'd bet most of them do ...

Heh - a lot of Norse deities for sure; but not all. Probably tried to keep things simple back then. So when they needed to call on their deity, they weren't spending 2 minute pronouncing their name.

*thinks; looks this stuff up* Wow, the Norse sure had a lot of deities. Buli and Buri and Heimdall and Frey and Frigg and Freyja and ... geez. So many gods and goddesses - 64 of them, according to one account.

Vali, Vili, Var, Vor, Ve ...

Ah, well - now we know where Tolkien got the names for the dwarves in the Hobbit. Vali and Vili - Fili and Kili. Although there are lots of dwarves in Norse mythology too, I'm sure ... let me look it up.

Norse Dwarves (from Viking Jewelry Blog)

Er, no. The names of some dwarves are recorded in the Norse tales, but they don't sound like the Tolkien dwarves at all. There are names like Alviss and Eitri, Fafnir and Regin, Brokkr and Andvari. They were mighty blacksmiths who created all kinds of magical artifacts: rings and weapons, wigs and spears, ships and boars and hammers and chains. They even made these things for the gods and goddesses. But they never got paid, which is a great pity.

We also don't know the fate of the dwarves. Do they survive Ragnarok? They're only mentioned once (in the Voluspa) as standing at their stone doors and shouting a mighty shout. But other that, their fate remains a mystery.

Hmm ... sounds like great material for a D&D campaign! What happened to these original dwarves? I'm sure you can do it, if you want to!

Yes! It's a rather short episode; but I intentionally wanted to do a "cliff hanger." The answer to it all, however, is very, very, very sneakedly in the episode itself.

I am (back) in the swing of things and should have the next episode this weekend. (I have a project I am doing for my best friend's mother in law - who is like a second mom to me - it's her 75th birthday - and since we can't be there to celebrate it with her - we're having her family and our friends that know her - send me a video so I can make something similar to what I did to surprise Amiee). She has no idea this is all happening.

I loved in this episode a few things... in the original (and obviously the refilmed version) - it's Peter questioning Amiee (so it's me questioning if my wife in real life is trustworthy) lol
Second, with the refilm - I was able to add the wanted poster into the video itself. In the original, it cuts to a still image of the wanted poster. This time, with a real editing program - I was able to - every time it showed that board in the background - drop that wanted image into each frame of the video - so it remains in motion (the entire scene) rather than the cheap static image trick I was using before (where suddenly no one could move because it had to be a static image). So in many ways, aside from learning so much the first time around I did all of this - using a real editor has allowed me to vastly improve what I can do.
