... you actually buy a black cauldron before thinking what you're going to do with it. Then you decide to:

1. get a witch's outfit;
2. make yourself up to look like a witch;
3. build up a fire on your porch (controlled, of course);
4. fill the cauldron with a bubbling green liquid (water and food colouring); and
5. sit on the porch with the cauldron, stirring it occasionally, and cackle "Hehehehehe!" fearsomely from time to time.

Why? Just to freak out the neighbourhood kids.

For extra points, you make up nonsense rhymes like "Toe of newt and lips of brat, / Children's foot and leg of rat! / If you kids will not behave / In the stew you will go, Dave!"

... or something like that.
