Ah ... OK. Sorry, I guess it's silly to apply military logic to a kids' cartoon.Tawmis wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 10:26 pmIt's true. That's exactly why. He-Man (the original cartoon), was meant to sell toys. The story and all of that, was in truth, pretty much second to "How do we sell this?"notbobsmith wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 9:03 pm Children's programming wasn't regulated by the government or anything, but there was self-censorship on the part of the studios which had departments called Standards and Practices to restrict what is shown, mostly to prevent any parents groups from complaining. A big concern was "imitable behavior", so no hitting. They wanted to avoid situations like: "By the Power of Grayskull! Now I'm going to beat you up, Skeletor!" "Ow! MOOOOOMMMM! Jimmy hit me!" So episodes often consist of He-Man destroying the MacGuffin of the week and Skeletor running off saying "Curse you, He-Man!"
If you watch the He-Man episode of the Toys that Made Us - they guy even lied when he said, "Oh, we're working on a cartoon right now" when they were trying to push Mattel (I believe it was) to pick up the toy line, when in fact they were not.
And then had to quickly rush and come up with an idea, which is largely why the mini comics (which show He-Man more of a barbarian) that came with the toys, varied greatly from the He-Man that made it to the cartoons.

Something I noticed but forgot to mention: where does Adam keep his sword?
Unless I'm mistaken, in the original series, Adam kept the sword on his back the same way He-Man does. But just before he changes in the first episode of the new series, we see his back a few times and it's not there. It just suddenly appears when he draws it.
It must be located in Hammerspace, I guess.

Either that, or simply magically hidden.notbobsmith wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 1:03 pm Something I noticed but forgot to mention: where does Adam keep his sword?

Best not to think of it too much, because then how does he sit down, bend over, etc - without it poking his shirt out, etc.

Hammerspace? Is that the same place where Larry, Larry Laffer puts the Gigantic Gulp in LSL2?
As for this ...

Or, as Guybrush said it best (in Monkey Island 3): "It just occurred to me that mixing medicine and alcohol is a really stupid and possibly lethal thing to do. If I were a REAL person instead of a lovably inept cartoon character with the potential for a few more sequels, I wouldn't even consider it." (beat) "SKOAL!"

... I refer you to my post, above (except with a slight edit):
If logic applied in cartoons, then Wile E. Coyote would take the money he spends on ACME products and buy a steak, instead. But he doesn't. Why? It's Cartoon Logic(TM)!Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 9:08 am ...I guess it's silly to apply ANY logic to a cartoon.![]()
