Are you the wooden statue you get from the Katta? He doesn't sell it to you. I'm not sure about the rest though.

NBS ... yes! I am the wooden carving of a leopard. The katta merchant (can't remember his name) gives it to you after you give it news from Shema in Shapeir. I think he says something like "Thank you so much for telling me of the people I care about. Please accept this humble gift" or something like that.

Later -- much, much later -- you can give this carving to Johari, the Leopard-woman that the Simbani capture -- to make friends with her.
