3 to cross over it (to the other side) and then 4 to cross back?

Yes I am. And the number of times you are supposed to cross it is 7. Any more and it breaks. I encountered this the first time I played it. I figured the problem out pretty quickly. The game gave a point each time you crossed so it made sense there would be a limit. The problem was I had no idea when I crossed the extra times, so I had no idea which save game I needed to restore to. I had to start over from the beginning.
