Is the series set on earth (or earth facsimile, such as Daventry)?
For my own sake of sanity - what Quest game doesn't take place on Earth or some facsimile, such as Daventry?
Wouldn't that be all of them?
Space Quest has planets like Earth. King's Quest you used an example. Police Quest, EcoQuest, ConQuest, all take place on Earth.
Trying to figure out why you'd include "facsimiles" as well?
Because an earth facsimile has to be a place that's recognizably earth-like (soil, trees, water, birds, desert etc.) -- and therefore, Space Quest is not set there.
Yes, Space Quest has planets, but other than a very quick sequence at the end of SQ3, Earth itself is not shown (and neither are any earth-like planets).
As for Earth-like planets ... sigh ... the planet where you land in SQ2 is close, but it's not earth-like. No place on earth has a plant that can eat full-grown people.
Besides, all planets in SQ games feature recognizably sci-fi elements, all of which are absent from earth. So, sorry, but Space Quest isn't set on earth or reasonable earth-facsimile.
To sum up: by "earth-facsimile", I mean a planet that is purely earth-like. Games like PQ, KQ, EcoQuest, ConQuest etc. (I include Quest for Glory as a borderline case, because the lands there can be recognized as parts of earth in the past. The fantasy elements can be easily recognized as mythology, too).
Hope that answers question!
