And is it a fantasy game? (Or just boring old reality?)
Just boring old reality. (If that's the only option against fantasy... again, I consider scifi different than fantasy... fantasy to me is Quest for Glory, King's Quest, sci-fi is like Lighthouse, Space Quest)
So it all depends on how you define 'fantasy' I suppose.

Sorry, I didn't mean to denigrate sci-fi!

And you're right, it all depends on how you define 'fantasy'. None of us can live out Roger Wilco's SQ adventures, for instance, so in a strict sense, it could be defined as 'fantasy'. But SQ clearly falls under science fiction.
Come to think of that, how do you define 'science fiction'? Asimov, Clarke and their generation defined 'science fiction' as something that could scientifically happen. For instance, Asimov once wrote a 'locked-room mystery' set on the moon, and (IIRC) depended on anti-gravity for the solution. Yet today, just about anything set in space is described as 'science fiction', even things that are clearly (for now) impossible, like
Star Wars and
Star Trek. Douglas Adams wrote
The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy to mock the more clearly impossible things that people were trying with sci-fi in the 1970s, but now
Hitch-hiker's Guide is considered to be sci-fi. So ... how broad is this umbrella?
Anyway, sorry. I'm digressing. *blush* But this topic sounds interesting to me. Maybe we could move it to the sci-fi discussion thread, and continue it there, if anyone is interested?

And here's my question: are you in a Laura Bow game?
