Looks interesting. Obvious Space Quest influences (Roger/Dodger, janitor/dishwashing dude).

The main dude's name is also a Charles Dickens reference (the Artful Dodger from "Oliver Twist"), but I don't think that was the intention. ;) Or maybe it was? If there are no dead ends and no ways to die, then Dodger, like the Artful Dodger, keeps dodging all the dangerous stuff. :)

I looked at the reviews, and they are positive. The art and the parser look amazingly 80s-ish (and Sierra-ish). Hopefully the puzzles aren't as obtuse as some puzzles in Sierra game (cat hair moustache) or require specific wording (e.g. towards the very end of LSL2). So I'll give it a try. Thanks, Tawm! :D

Looks cool. Is this programmed as a DOS game to run in DOSBox or Windows native meant to look like an SCI game?

I'm guessing the name is a Space Quest reference. "Dodger" could come from the expression Roger Dodger.

Yeah, I commented on the Space Quest influence to the creator; and he confirmed, definite Space Quest influences.

Yeah, and the game is cheap. I plan to pick it up as one of the games I will give a spin on my Youtube channel at some point. There's a few fan games I've picked up that are "Sierra-like" that I'd like to do on my channel.

Not sure, plan on picking it up on payday (even though it's very cheap, I just paid to fix my 2000 XTERRA, so money is currently very, very, very tight in this single income household...)

But ... I wasn't kidding? :shock: I know the goober-mint can be slow, but down here in Australia, if I suddenly lost my job, the Department of Social Services would deny me unemployment benefits for -- at most -- 3 months, and tell me to live on my savings while looking for another job.

If, after 3 months, I was still unemployed, THEN they would give me the dole... which is obviously much less than a weekly wage, but I can still live on it, if I gave up luxuries like books and going to the movies and such.

Obviously, I'm not in Aimee's position (i.e. needing a disability payment), and I don't know the American system all that well. :) But why on earth should they take a year or two? And why do you have to submit everything three times? :(

I'm sorry; I don't mean to pry, and it's really none of my business. *blush* I'm just curious how on earth this makes any kind of sense. 'Cos obviously it doesn't. :(

Yeah Disability is more difficult, because you need to verify the disability (repeatedly), because too many people could (and probably already have, which is why it's crazy difficult) abused the system.

Unemployment is much easier (well, not much, but it is easier than disability). Unemployment can be for, as you said, 3 months. Then they cut it. They're there to float you for a short time. Disability can be for years, or the rest of your life. So that's a different story.

That said, it is what it is and we're making our way! That's why on my Youtube channel (looping it back to the game), I always mention trying to get to 1,000 subscribers, because then I can monetize my channel (and even if I make pennies, it's something). It's why I sell stuff I create on DMsGuild and have a patreon for my D&D campaign.

Hah! Finally got around to beating it (see the above!)... Fun game. It gets pretty easy because each area you go into - it's only like 3 to 5 screens per puzzle that you can move - so it's a matter of figuring out what to do with the few things you've got between the screens you can move around before it opens to a new area. Some of the puzzles were - not difficult - but had to be worded a specific way. But a very fun game that's clearly very influenced by Space Quest.

It even has two endings you can choose from at the end (played both).

Yes. That was one of the pain points. Of how to "correctly" use the glove to get the key from the bushes.

There's also like "hidden" things - like the rope in the crater? I would have never looked, until I was stuck - and not able to figure out what to do next - so I began just typing things like "look in crater"... would have been nice, if there was like a sliver of the rope showing or something.

But still a fun game!

Looks like fun. Did you find it very challenging (aka on the Lighthouse/Iceman/Gold Rush side of the scale), or was it way too easy? ;)
