If it's not nailed down, pick it up.
That was always a motto in Sierra games (as well as "Save Early, Save Often!")...
What were some scenes/things you did in Sierra games that you picked up - and thought, "What Sierra is teaching me is stealing!"
Because some things are found with no obvious owner (like the loose wires in Space Quest), but some items were sitting in someone's house or something, and you have to take it.

Re: If it's not nailed down, pick it up.
Since the manual pretty much recommended picking up everything that wasn't nailed down, it didn't seem like stealing to me. I justified it to myself as "I need this! I'm saving the world! It's for the greater good!" and such. Besides, most of the stuff was just lying around with no apparent owner.
Except of course for playing the thief in QfG. That was pretty obviously stealing, since it was only for loot and I didn't really need it. I felt somewhat guilty stealing from the old lady in QfG1. That's where my stealing complex really started.

I still would've tried taking stuff even if the manual hadn't suggested it. If people are too stupid to realize an uninvited guest is grabbing their stuff, then they deserve to lose it.
Of course... you're talking to the same person who spent an afternoon meticulously slaughtering every living inhabitant of all the major cities in Arcanum. What does that have to do with this thread? Well, I stole their loot.

I feel guilty about burglaring Mosely and destroying his passport.

I felt guilty about taking Mosely's wallet in GK1. But then, he did whack me on the head...

Nobady felt guilty taking the Preparation H from Lady Howard?
Talk to coffee? Even Gabriel isn't that addicted!

Nah. Hot bath works just as well.

Wasn't there a scene in KQ1 where I murdered a witch just to steal her cheese?

Hey, good cheese doesn't come around very often. And she was probably an ~EVIL~ witch.

Wasn't that the witch that turns you into gingerbread? Or was that a Graham cracker?
Either way, that seems pretty hostile to me. It was self-defense!

He also “borrowed” Gabriel’s bike that one time! Mosely deserved it.Rath Darkblade wrote:I felt guilty about taking Mosely's wallet in GK1. But then, he did whack me on the head...
Tawm, and the third rule is, and if it’s nailed down, find some way to pry it off!
Definitely the stealing in the QfG series. I felt like a thief! (but that was the point huh!)
