Looking for "snappy" Christmas music..

Post by audiodane »

I'll admit it. I have a soft spot in my heart for Christmas time.. And that's as mushy as I'm going to get, don't worry. On with the post-- A few years back two CD's were released for download.. "Seriously West Coast" volume's 1 and 2. Volume 2 was a "Christmas" album. I want to find more "snappy" Christmas music like that found on SWCvol2..

Can anyone recommend any compilations?

Here's the track list for SWCvol2 (download here):

(okay, admittedly not ALL tracks are "snappy" ... but some are!)
Barenaked Ladies – God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
The Weepies – All That I Want
Sarah McLachlan – Silent Night
Matt Wertz – What Child Is This
Liily Frost – Skating On The River
Oh Susanna – Go Tell It On The Mountain
Medieval Baebes – The Holly & The Ivy
The Be Good Tanyas – Rudy
Barenaked Ladies – Elf’s Lament
Melissa McClelland – O Holy Night
Jars of Clay – Hibernation Day
Jenny Owen Youngs – Things We Don’t Need Anymore
Martha Wainwright – Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Kyle Andrews – Under The Mistletoe
Leigh Nash – The First Noel
Sarah McLachlan – The First Noel (DJ Shah Remix)
thanks,
..dane

ps.- for those interested, Vol.1 tracklist (download here):
Bare Naked Ladies – Wind It Up
Fauxilage – Rafe (Gabin Remix)
Josh Rouse – Hollywood Bass Player
The Weepies – Gotta Have You
Sarah McLachlan – Witness (Live)
The Perishers – Victorious
Datarock – Fa Fa Fa
Uh Huh Her – Say So (Tom Russo Mix)
Moev – Yeah Whatever
The Format – She Doesn’t Get It
Leigh Nash – Ocean Size Love
Bare Naked Ladies – Home (Live)
Great Lake Swimmers – Your Rocky Spine
The Be Good Tanyas – Ootischenia
The Water Walk – Turn Your Face Away

EDIT: now I see there seems to have been a Vol.3 release on Valentines 2009... Does anyone have it?

I have a christmas album you can have for free. Please! It's called Appelsientje Kerstconcert.

My seasonal favourites are God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman, Slade's Merry Christmas, and Francesco Zappa (Frank Zappa album with cute baroque tunes played by a synclavier).

For awesome Christmas Music that Rocks - Literally - Might I recommend TSO - Trans Siberian Orchestra? If you have never heard them, you're missing out.

If you ever get a chance to see them in concert. Go. You will not be disappointed!

I just went (last week!) 2nd row - floor. AMAZING seats and show.

May just post pictures soon.

Snappy Xmas music? Hmm...

Christmas at Ground Zero by "Weird Al" can't be beat for sheer cheeriness about the end of the world.

The Night Santa Went Crazy (also by "Weird Al") is quite cheery about gory violence. :D

You can legally download a punk version of the traditional Christmas carol 'Oh Holy Night' by The Great Transparency at

This is in my playlist a lot at the moment.

Sappy stuff? There's "Christmas Shoes" by Newsong and "Where Are You Christmas" by Faith Hill from the Jim Carrey Grinch movie.
