game consoles and adventures

Post by Rakeesh »

I grew up in the 90s which I deem as the 'golden age' of Japanese game consoles. Of course, me being 'alternative' and all that, I scorned this hype with all those lowly industrialized platform games; and I was holding a preference to more sophisticated genres (eg. adventures).

To my surprise was my recent discovery that some classic adventure titles were released for those... contemptible consoles: titles such as KQ1, KQ5, Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, Rise of the Dragon and Willy Beamish were to be found for old and 'newer' consoles, such as NES or SegaCD!! And with features not present in their original versions.

Now, these are only the titles I know so far. I am really wondering if any of you is aware of any other 'classic' adventure titles made for such platforms.

I didn't know KQ1 was released for any form of console? I have KQ5 for NES/SNES (which ever it was).

Sega Master System: King's Quest 1

NES: King's Quest 5 and Maniac Mansion

Sega CD: The Secret of Monkey Island, Rise of the Dragon and The Adventures of Willy Beamish

3DO: Stellar 7

Those are all of the computer-to-console ports I know of. There might be others.

I think there's a Japanese port of Phantasmagoria for the cd-i, but I could be very wrong.

It doesn't fit, but I know that The 7th Guest was ported to something.

Besides Inca there's no Sierra port for CD-i. Trust me, I've checked countless times.
There's a new script around: PHANTASMAGORIA - A Puzzle Of Flesh! Check the Script Party topic in the Bard's Forum!
