Well, with the way I purchase my games... I really jump on the opportunity of buying them as soon as one comes along in second hand store or flea market. Had Overseer for two years or so, and UAKM for even longer but I've never found any other Tex games.
It's my first playthrough. This far it's OK but I'm not overly keen on the dialogue with Chelsee so far (seems slow) and all the women look really old with the interlacing. But I'm happy they kept Suzanne Barnes, she's good.

Having too much running troubles, and the best the Unofficial Tex Murphy community does is urge you to buy it off GOG. I'll try to run it on Dino.

Overseer is incredibly twitchy, it's true. And it's also true that, if you want to play it, buy the digital version from GOG.com is your best bet. However, if you don't want to spend more money on the game, running it on an older machine should solve your problems. Otherwise, you can try to adapt this The Pandora's Directive's guide to Overseer. If I recall correctly, it worked for me!

It didn't. There were a number of glitches (related to the MIDI player), but most importantly it just wouldn't recognise CD 5. Which seemed very odd, since the explorer showed the regular game data. The only difference between this one and the others, besides the obvious, was that all the other disks are called OVERSEER1 to 4, and this one was called OVERSSER5. On my Win 98 I had the same problem.
Burnt a new CD but I called it OVERSEER5, and believe it or not: it actually worked!! So I just finished talking to Jorge Valdez and now I'm frantically trying to recall where on earth I found the sleeping pills when I first played it.

And I feel buying a game once should be enough.

Just finished KQVI ... WOW, what a long game. I can understand why I never finished it when I was younger. I used this walkthrough for guidance. A couple of the puzzles I'm pretty sure wouldn't have kept my interest with as much other busy life things are going on right now.

But, now I get to move on to my more particular favorites- space quest!

Don't have them.. they came out when my bro and I started waning on adventure games due to other life endeavors like college and post-college. I've heard quite the mixed bag of VII and MOE though, so I'm in no rush to go out and try them. Someday maybe. I also need to go back any play the fan games and the SCI remakes. I haven't done any of those yet either. I've only recently re-played the versions that I originally played. Someday I'll go back and do the remakes. Not sure if I should do those before or after the SQ games.. SQ was always *by far* my favorite. Had a few others that I really enjoyed, but a new SQ would be the easiest blind-buy imaginable. That's why I did the KQ games first- as somewhat of an "anticipation builder" to get to the SQ games. Not sure if I can postpone it any longer.

And for what its worth, I only ever played KQ and SQ, for the most part, from Sierra. I had one of the very early Incredible Machine games but was too young at the time to be any good at it. Never played PQ or QfG or GK, though someone recently sent me a spare copy of GK for me to try out. just haven't gotten there yet...

Just keep in mind that amongst those series you mentioned include some games that are usually included on "best ever" lists. All three GK games are milestone games. QfG II and QfG IV are perennial favorite games.

So I hear .. And therefore I do look forward to playing them all some day (wouldn't have even known about them if I never stumbled across this place!) At this point price is not the obstacle with GOG and eBay- it's time.

Recently, Maia and I've been playing Champions Online together since it's now "free-to-play." We've also gone back to Guild Wars to finish some quests and gain items, some of which may transfer to Guild Wars 2.

As for single player games... Maia's still working on Gray Matter and I've been playing Call of Duty 2. Yeah, CoD2 is an older game now (from 2005 or so, I think), but it's still better than any of the newer CoD titles.

I just wish CoD3 had actually been released for the PC (it was only on the consoles) since that was the only CoD game that let players go through a Canadian and Polish campaign. Usually campaigns are limited to the US, UK and USSR.

For Maia (or DPX if she's too busy to respond): are you liking Gray Matter? Given how much you like our dear Gabriel Knight, I'm very curious about your opinion on Jane's new adventure!

I've been enjoying Gray Matter a great deal. Other than one issue with me not clicking in the right spot, the puzzles have been good. My only complaint is the art for the cut scenes. I don't much care for the style.

Between a business trip and other things going on now, I haven't had a chance to play it in the last couple weeks, but I definitely want to get back to it soon. I really missed the feel of a good Jane Jensen game. I like the story and how everything ties together so far. Her stories always have so many interconnected elements that make most other game stories seem simple in comparison.

Agreed. Jane is by far my favorite game designer. Her games usually get more game elements right than most do.

I'd like Gray Matter more if it didn't keep crashing on me. It's hard to enjoy a game in those circumstances.
