On that note, check out Pets 2 Vets. It's an organization that places dogs and cats from shelters (who need homes) with military, police and firefighter veterans.

Who came up with this? David Sharpe, a military veteran suffering from PTSD. He almost committed suicide, but was stopped by his puppy.

Right now, P2V is American only and based in San Diego. I don't know how far it reaches beyond California, though. I'd like to see something like P2V in more countries; after all, we always have animals who need homes and people who need friendship.

NOTE: I don't mean to "hijack" this thread, but I thought posting about Sharpe and P2V would be a good addition considering the subject matter.
