Nope. I thought you'd get it right away from that clue Collector.
Re: Behind The Scenes - The Movie Guessing Game!
This got spaced out so long that I forgot this clue. I don't recognize the scene, but given the above clue and if Frank Sinatra is in it, it must be the Manchurian Candidate.dotkel50 wrote:Hint...... this one's a political thriller.

Of course. Probably the most famous scene in the entire movie.

Next, and as soon as my father rolls in he can probably produce brand name and production details of this beauty:

Sorry, no.
It's an Ampex 601, which was produced from the late 50s thru the 1960s. It's still popular because of the superior tube electronics.

Clue: in the film it's an anachronism.

That suggests the time period is in 1940s or earlier. Reel-to-reel decks like that weren't widely used or available until the 1950s and 1960s.BBP wrote:Clue: in the film it's an anachronism.

To be precise, it takes place before 1957, (but (clue) in a time tape recorders were commercially available). In that year the first Ampex 601 was released. It is in pretty good condition on that photo, suggesting it is a later 601.
You know it REALLY ruins a film when you're watching a newer film that takes place in older times, your dad sits next to you and shouts "That's never a 1950s tape recorder!"
