Adventure Gamers Top 100 Adventures of All Time

Post by AndreaDraco »

This is the secret project I was working on!

Positions 100-91 are now revealed. Can you guess what game I wrote the write-up for? :D

And what do you think about these positions?

Let's discuss! :D

And there I was, hoping you had access to Gabriel Knight 4...
I know only two of the games mentioned so far:
Gold Rush, hated it as a kid because I died so often and because of the frequent sad overtones, and I never could finish it. My English was not good enough I guess. Replayed it and was indeed amused at the amount of information on life back then; which got immediately reversed when the game claimed there live tigers in the Amazon.
Toonstruck, why is it so low? It's my fav live-action adventure. Great graphics, great acting, great puzzles, great humour, great music, great sounds, great fun...

Side note: large number of live action adventure games contain S&M. Toonstruck, Phantas 2, 11th Hour, Voyeur... GK1 hints at it too. And there's Thunderbird in LSL6. Was it fashion?
There's a new script around: PHANTASMAGORIA - A Puzzle Of Flesh! Check the Script Party topic in the Bard's Forum!

If you're writing this, can I take a wild guess at #1? ;)

Actually - this list will be awesome when finished. I've already played through their complete Top 20 and it'll be great to have a point of reference for other popular and known games in the genre. I'm already looking at digging up the Feebles Files and Runaway.

So are the original Top 20 still intact or has it been updated? I'd be disappointed to see my all-time favorite game fall off the top spot.

I have 6 of them, three of which I have installers.
Adventure games have been around for over thirty years!
Closer to 40. Adventure is coming up on 37 years old.

It's a collaborative effort. Every member of the staff partecipated with his or her votes and then Jackal assembled the final list based on our votes. And then we wrote the small articles for every game in the list. This time, I contributed the write-up for Gold Rush.

I won't spoil anything, but let's just say that there will be some surprises ;)

If the number one game still involves tentacles, time travel and crazy mansions, then I'll be happy. :)

Otherwise, that's cool. Seeing lists like these makes me want to write up lists of my own.

Ooh I like this! I'm looking forward to seeing the end of this list.

I'm really trying to think through a lot of games that could be on the list and am actually very surprized to see Gold Rush! at #96! I loved that game.

I think I have a really good idea of what will be in the top five. I've only played two that were on the list so far. Obviously Gold Rush, and the other is The Dig.

The best Adventure of all time is a toss-up between Myst and Jurassic Park: The Game.

Yes, I'm kidding. :P

Reminds me I still need to win Titanic. I'm sure I'll be completely lost with that game now since I'm in the middle of the ship sinking, and I think all of the moves are timed.
