The Poorly Described Game... um, game.

Note: We used to have board games, card games, etc., as options but too frequently we (I being one of them) would forget to mention that in the first sentence. So we narrowed it down to just be console/PC games. So if you read this thread and see a board game mentioned, that was before we decided to make this change.

The Anyone know the title of this game? thread got me thinking how that could easily be a forum game.

So the idea is - you poorly describe a (real) game (can be computer, board game, etc) - and others have to guess.

You just need to specify if it's a computer game or console game, etc. As if truly trying to recall what it was.

Each time someone guesses - and they're wrong - (or asks a question) - whoever's turn it is - must offer one more sentence about the game.

So for example if I started with:

I remember a computer game, where you're a police officer.

And someone guessed:

"Is it BLUE FORCE?"

I would then add:

"No, but I am pretty sure it was made by Jim Walls also and takes place in a fictional city."

The clue provided ties to the question asked, so that it gives a clue to the question that was asked, rather than the above answer being "The box was red" - which has nothing to do with the question.

You would also provide a clue to ANY question asked if the result is "no."

For example, if the game I had in mind was Police Quest III.

And someone asked:

"Was the game made by Tsunami?"

I might say -

"No, but it is similar to BLUE FORCE."

But if someone asked, "Is it one of the Police Quest games?"

I'd just need to answer, "Yes." and not provide a clue, since the "YES" answer is already giving a clue.

Each person can only guess/ask questions once - until whoever's turn it is - replies to them.


So we will go with my first poorly described game (which should be pretty easy to guess, just to get the ball rolling...)

Yes, it's on Earth. (You didn't say we had to come up with another poorly-described sentence if someone guesses correctly, so I assume all I need to do is confirm).

Yeah - only if they make a (logical) guess. Like if I guessed "Is it Oil's Well?" (clearly not logical based off your description).
I figure - new game - see if just question/confirmation isn't too difficult. Leave it as is. If it's too difficult adjust rules later.

No, this game doesn't take place during any of the conventional wars that the US fought in, but the word "war" does appear in the name of the conflict.

In part, yes. The main conflict isn't alternative history, but there are scenarios that take place that either didn't exist in real life or take place in the "future" with conflicts that didn't come to be in real life, but were reasonable ideas at the time this game was made.
