Agreed that it is too small. 15px x15px? It needs to be much bigger.

I have to admit it's bit small, but I think it looks like an up arrow in a square :-), probably a button to move the scene/character. I don't think I know the game, though.

How about a screen shot that shows more of the entire picture? Enlarging a small raster image is just about worthless. All you'll end up doing is distorting it.

It's an up arrow button or something. But I have no idea what game it's from. It also looks like the original image was blurred a bit.

I'm actually surprised.... we can identify a UI element in Aces of the Pacific (which is 35x32) but we can't identify this? Ah well, guess it was too hard. The game in question is Silpheed.

MI - it wasn't blurred on my end, that's just the way the pic came out from the magazine article, which can be found at http://sierrainteraction.wikidot.com/si ... to-thexdar

Since I posted the answer, anyone else can put a pic up to continue the game. :)
