OMD2 is really fun! It has a bit of goofy humour and the gameplay is easy to learn.

I like the fact that, if you have well-planned use of your resources, it makes it much easier to manage the combat. However, if you don't plan as well, you can use the combat to compensate.

It's pretty addicting. We played through the whole campain in two weeks. We did it on easy, but it was actually too easy at times, so we're definitely going to go back and do it on the normal difficulty.

Just bought The Dame Was Loaded (PC) for 10 cents. Got it running on DOSBox, but this edition says it has an on-disk manual... and it doesn't. Will click around some more to see how to put stuff in my inventory and all, because now the game traps me a bit.

The manual may be a series of images using a more obscure image format. The attached will create a list of files. Just point it to the disc and attach the result here.

I wonder if POMLITE.X16 and POMLITE.X32 something like Director files. Do you get any options with the CDSTART.EXE?

I ADORE The Dame was Loaded. I played it right after GK2 and absolutely loved it. Great story, great atmosphere.

Hey Collector, it worked! Pretty odd though, since that programme can only be opened under Windows, not DOS; apparently DOS-users in 1996 weren't entitled to read the manual.

There were a number of DOS games from that era that came with Windows installers. Remember that Win9x came with real DOS, not the NTVDM DOS emulator. Some DOS games would run in Windows 9x without having to boot to pure DOS. Those that didn't like it could have a PIF file that would automatically reboot to DOS and start the game.

... if I recall correctly, we didn't get our first Windows 95 PC until 1997 (before that we had a weird Toshiba monochrome laptop we'd attach a colour monitor to), so I wouldn't have been able to read the manual if I had bought it back in 1996.
The game freezes occasionally: since it's Philips software, I guess it's the "disk dirty" message that would eventually end any Philips software programme I had. It's nasty since the game can't be saved at any point, and driving back to the office takes game-time.

Perhaps if you tried to create an image of the disc to run it in DOSBox with imgmount. This can solve disc reading problems in a number of CD-ROM games in DOSBox. Just remember that if the game uses CD audio you will need to use a format like BIN/CUE to include the audio track.

Maia and I decided to reinstall Team Fortress 2 and we've been playing that for the past few days. It's still fun, but also very aggravating at times (but then so is any online multiplayer FPS).

Tons. TF2 went F2P a while ago so it gained even more people than before, despite the price being low for a long time before that.

Still on The Dame Was Loaded. Yesterday I got Ralph, Mickey and Frankie killed in the timespace of ten minutes. I really felt bad for the middle one.
