Nice! Love the maps! I'm missing a lot of death scenes in the summary though: drinking Grotesque Gulp, the agent on the nude beach, the girl on the airport, bobby pin, talking to Ken for too long, coming too close to the woodchuck in the village, time-outs on airport and in LA... Man, are there a lot of those!
Not sure if you can die by not having the knife after using the parachute.

Poor LucasArts fans. They don't realize how fun some of the more absurd death scenes can be.

Meh. Death scenes can be funny provided they don't happen at every turn. Some Sierra games killed the player way too often.

That's because I didn't record the death scenes videos ;). That's a compilation from another Youtube member. I was a bit short on time, so i imported those for now. But, considering how many scenes are missing, i'll probably record those as well.

In the words of Al Lowe, "Save Early, Save Often."

It's almost as trademarked as "Never give up, Never Surrender!" for Galaxy Quest!

Oh, I agree. I just dislike dying from ridiculous things.

For instance... in SQ3, right at the beginning, you can type "touch metal." Your hand then gets sliced off and you die from blood loss. That's just stupid. I can see dying from a number of things (not the least of which was Arnoid in that game), but merely touching some metal?

(Oh and regarding "save early, save often," I often laugh at modern games who get all confused and upset when they lose tons of progress because they "forgot to save their game." I guess they rely on auto-saves and check points.

Girl on the airport: there's a young KGB agent sitting on a chair pretending to be a model, if I'm correct she's at the same screen as Rosella's barbershop.
Ken is the guy on the plane. If you didn't get the brochure, you have nothing to distract him, and that will mean he'll try his deadly hair-a-grow formula on you. Or something like that, it's been a while.

Oh ok, last time I played the girl was absent, guess her appearance is random. As for Ken, I thought you referred to the Chief :D

Ay-yi-yi!! DPX, I reckon you've put your finger on something of a pet peeve of mine in early Sierra Quest games, so...

***WARNING WARNING... RANT MODE: ON

Where do I begin? :P

LSL2 is absolutely LOADED with Larry deaths. Waaaaay too many deaths. Some have been listed... Others are not paying for the Grotesque Gulp, not making the ship on time, getting too close to the mother on the ship, running out of air while diving in the pool, "hitting the bird" with a disguised KGB agent, not having suntan oil, not having spinach dip, not having various parts of Larry's disguise as a "girl" (too many to list individually)... etc., etc., etc... agh. There are far too many ways to die, and through no fault of your own. Not to mention how Larry dies far too often in this game: either not getting the friggin' bobby pin, or getting it and THEN being stuck on the escalators for too long until the plane LEAVES WITHOUT YOU!!! ARGH!!! *bangs head against the wall* :P

Same thing with Space Quest 2. I had barely begun that game when I was eaten alive by a giant CARNIVOROUS flower. I mean, WTF? It's a FLOWER!

And then, alternately, I was eaten by some tentacled thing in a swamp, was sucked into a whirlpool, was eaten by some bear-thing in a cave, fell off a log and became desert pizza... agh. Again, too many ways to die, and I haven't even mentioned Sludge Vohaul's ship yet, where I was waxed into the floor, had my heart ripped out by a parody of something out of the Alien film, fell into an acid bath, was trapped and shrunk into nothing by Sludge, failed to stop the salesmen of doom in time, failed to reach the escape pod in time... and so on, and so on, ad infinitum, ad nauseum, ad avis. :P

And speaking of Ad Avis... the finale of QfG2. For instance... failing (as a thief) to duck in time and being turned into road pizza, whacked (as a fighter) into infinity by that STUPID statue, not being able (as a wizard) to properly bounce my force bolt into the brazier so it knocks Ad Avis off the building... and so on... but actually, you don't have to die too often in QfG2, as long as you're sensible (i.e. try not to die). :P

Anyway... phew. Sorry. *blushes* Thanks for letting me vent. :D

All the death scenes in games really scared me as a kid, particularly in Gold Rush with that very sad Oh Susanna. By now I do tend to look them up, as long as they're funny.

I never had trouble with LSL2 at the airport: you can just get all the stuff you need before you search the suitcases. It was what I did before looking at all those boring bags. I was annoyed by the many timed sequences though: I just need time to generate an English-language response for typing games.

LSL2 was the most difficult. But it is also, by far, my favorite of the series.

LSL2 and LSL3 are both quite difficult. But if the puzzles weren't challenging, there wouldn't be any point to them - and because they are challenging, it gives you a sense of accomplishment when you solve them. ;)

Agreed. Personally, my favorite (or least favorite, as the case may be) stupid Sierra death is in LB1 when merely walking up to the handrail on the balcony causes the floor to collapse. Laura tumbles to her death. Very stupid.
