Actually there is no text-only version :). Just press enter without typing anything and you'll have the text-only screen (to review previous commands). Press enter again to return to the graphics.

Isn't it supposed to be kings quest 4 vs the colonels bequest?

Yes it is. At least those that have voted did not choose the incorrectly listed game. Perhaps people should hold off on voting until Datadog replies.

Agh, you're right. I'm really dropping the ball on this. It won't let me edit the post (Collector, can you?), but that one IS actually:

King's Quest 4 vs. The Colonel's Bequest

Please continue voting. And feel free to change your vote for that one.

Best In AGI:
Larry, I'm so sorry, but even your cute gritty backgrounds and pretty elevator couldn't beat Gold Rush's pretty nature and very very blue skies.
Image

Best In SCI 16-Color:
Poor Colonel's Bequest had a bad start,so I'll vote for one of the games that creeped me out beyond playing. Go Laura Bow!
Image

Best in VGA:
1: King's Quest 5. I checked them both out on Mobygames and just think KQ5's nature is more interesting.
Image

2: Well nature is all fine and dandy, but the variety of GK, of nature, bookstore (be still my heart), cluttered creepy office, church and seance room.
Image

Photorealistic SVGA
Neuschwanstein is pretty, Munich is pretty, but I don't much care about offices or the theatre basement or the dungeon or Schloss Ritter, which is a pity. I vote for Shivers, which is 100% original.
Image
And the colours are lush.

Yep, sorry Rosella, I still love you, lol, but I'll change my vote from King's Quest 4 to Colonel's Bequest. Please don't cry, Rosella. Oh... no... please don't do that! Awww...

Laura Bow for the win! :D

Title Match: Best in AGI
Gold Rush!
- This is not surprising if Gold Rush wins this... there's just TOO many great screens because of the multiple paths you can take...

Title Match: Best in SCI 16-Color
The Colonel's Bequest
- This one makes me want to cry. Not because LB doesn't deserve it, but because both deserve it. But I have to give it to Laura Bow, because the atmosphere for the entire game is amazing... Where as KQ4 is like a bunch of separate great images...

Best in VGA
1. Space Quest 4
- I changed this to SQ4 after Datadog made a point; SQ4 actually had moving beautiful graphics, rather than just still painted backgrounds. SQ4 does indeed take this one for me.

2. Gabriel Knight 1
- This one was tough, but in the end, it's the same fate as CB vs KQ4... GK1 ties all the things together; and KQ6 has a bunch of great individual backgrounds; so this tie goes to GK1.

Title Match: Best in Photorealistic SVGA
Gabriel Knight 2
- This one goes to GK2. Again, because all of the atmosphere tied together gave it a great vibe. Shivers felt like a bunch of great (but odd) backgrounds.

Man. Some tough ones. :(

No, he used a screen shot of the NES version. That's even worse than EGA. :P

I do, but I didn't bother looking at WHO posted the screen shot. :P
