Ye Ol' Games Of Yesteryear.
So we're all here because of our love of Sierra games (well, I assume we are!)
But what are some other games - and I want to include Board Games, Arcade Games, Computer Games, Console Games - that you also enjoyed (that aren't really around anymore).

Re: Ye Ol' Games Of Yesteryear.
Quite a few Commodore 64 games:
Dr J vs Larry BIrd
Soccer
Tennis
Space Invaders
Donkey Kong
Original Pac-Man
...and a few sidescrollers I probably forgot the names of. (Hey, I haven't even seen my childhood C64 since late 1989).
PC games?
Sokoban (CGA)
er ... Gods
Zeliard?
Er ... can't many others I played back then that I can't find now.
You can even play Golden Axe nowadays.
=========================
I remember an arcade game I played once upon a time (in the late 80s) that featured a would-be hero. It was a side-scroller, and the hero started out in diapers and wielding a sword.
IIRC, the "hero" would move across the screen and slay monsters until he reached a door to a castle. But when you open the door, the castle was just one big room where you would fight the Big Boss for that level. (The Big Boss for level 1 was a big, floaty angel-of-death thingy). If you beat the Big Boss, you got better armour and a bigger sword (I think?). I can't remember what the point of the whole thing was -- rescue a princess? Save the land? *shrug* Like I said, I haven't laid eyes on it since the late 80s.
Does this ring a bell with anyone? Probably not.
=========================
Board games? I can only remember four:
- "Risk" and "Cluedo"/"Clue" (both can still be played online, or as board games, so they don't really count)
- Something called "The Bourse Game" ("Bourse" is an old-fashioned word, still used in Europe, for "Stock Exchange"). IIRC, you go around the board and buy stocks. They can go up and down, and the point is to corner the market.
- Aaah ... Milton Bradley's HeroQuest!
But I don't think it's available anymore. Or maybe I'm wrong?

Atari 800 XL:
European Jigsaws
Submission
Dragon Castle
Draps
Lode Runner
Mario Bros
Donkey Kong
We had a Sanyo, that was back in the days when Dad was learning programming and I would've been around 6, so most of that was educative stuff he made himself. But there was also a murder game I recall, and I also played that a lot.
DOS:
Prince of Persia
LSL1
Gold Rush
Alley Cat
Toons (something you could make basic cartoons with)
Sid & Al's Incredible Toons (later published by Sierra as The Incredible Toon Machine
Bip Bop
Laser Light
Lemmings
Spider
Block Man
Soko Ban
Highway Hunter
Breakthrough
Redhook's Revenge
Pinball Dreams II
Jill Of The Jungle
Xargon
Clyde's Adventure
Windows:
MineSweeper
Order Out Of Chaos
LSL7
LAD
Hot Death UNO!
Board Games:
Cluedo (still is way up there)
Mankomanie
Nijlpaard in de Achtbaan
Card games:
Mini-Bridge. Which is a Dutch bridge derivative so kids aged 10-12 can get grips on the bridge mechanics - in fact my school won the championship for schools in 1995 when I was on the team.
Toepen - that's a local trick taking game.

Re: Ye Ol' Games Of Yesteryear.
What got me thinking about that is - I have the SEGA CLASSICS on Steam - and on my PC have Golden Axe (it was free), but also purchased Toejam and Earl 1 and 2 (probably some of my favorite console games on SEGA - ever). But I also got Eternal Champions which I had on Sega also back in the day. Underrated fighting game - and only after playing it some again through Steam, I decided to google it and discovered stage fatalities! (Never knew that before, but not surprising as it was competing with the likes of Mortal Kombat). But I also discovered it had a sequel - only released on the SEGA CD. This blew my mind. And led down a trail of looking it up on Youtube - and discovering the huge fall out between SEGA Japan (who was making VIRTUA FIGHTER) and SEGA USA (who'd made Eternal Champions - Sega Japan shut down Sega USA - and didn't want a sequel to Eternal Champions to compete with VIRTUA FIGHTER, so Eternal Champions 2 was limited to the SEGA CD). Which... I never had.
This led me to thinking of other fighting games of that time, Mace: The Dark Age which was on arcade and N64. Not a super great game, but lots of memories attached to it. And Primal Rage was another arcade game that went to console, but can't be found anywhere ported over (well it was ported to DOS too; just can't ever find it for a reasonable price).
And while I was at Target - I was looking at games, and found some games, I remembered as a kid like MOUSE TRAP, BATTLESHIP (which was a Retro Version of it - tempted to buy it!)

BBP, I recognised some of the names on your list. If you'd like to play Jill of the Jungle again, it's available on GOG for free.
I remember Prince of Persia, Lemmings and Xargon now. And Alley Cat? You can play Alley Cat online - here.

Re: Ye Ol' Games Of Yesteryear.
I just remembered The Dark Tower game (no relation to the Stephen King book).
Here's a clear video of some gameplay.
And just found out it's on iOS and Android.
There was a Return to Dark Tower kickstarter which looks amazing, but I am done with Kickstarters.

Re: Ye Ol' Games Of Yesteryear.
I recall an arcade game (I don't remember the name) where you play a knight moving left to right while fighting enemies in a hallway. You had a sword and shield, and armor, but if you got hit enough times in specific areas, a piece of armor covering that area would get knocked off.
Honestly, I'm not sure why I remember this game so well (other than the name...) since I only played it once at a movie theatre while waiting to be allowed in to get our seats., but for some reason it stuck with me.

Pretty sure you're thinking of Ghouls'N Ghosts. You can end up virtually in your underwear as seen here..DeadPoolX wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 3:26 am I recall an arcade game (I don't remember the name) where you play a knight moving left to right while fighting enemies in a hallway. Which was a sequel to Ghosts'n Goblins on the NES (which got a remake recently).

Re: Ye Ol' Games Of Yesteryear.
Nope. I know the GnG games, and what I'm thinking of most definitely is NOT Ghouls 'n Ghosts or Ghosts 'n Goblins. It's an entirely different game.Tawmis wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 3:59 amPretty sure you're thinking of Ghouls'N Ghosts. I actually found what I was thinking of on YouTube. It's an arcade game called Gladiator from 1986.
The arcade version is shown below (at least I think it's the arcade version) and there were home releases on various systems, including the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, and the Commodore 64. Obviously those versions wouldn't have looked anywhere near as good as the arcade version. Oddly enough, I don't think it ever appeared on DOS, the Apple II, or any console.

Re: Ye Ol' Games Of Yesteryear.
Huh. This gave me an idea -- make up names for arcade games that start with G.
Ghouls 'n Goblins
Goblins 'n Gladiators
Goblins 'n Graphics
Gandalf 'n Gwaihir ...
(Wouldn't you know it - WETA Workshop actually made that. Here.)

Re: Ye Ol' Games Of Yesteryear.
Teehee... I got in the mood of seeing these games again, and looked up some Pinball Dreams II vids.
When we first got a soundcard it was a bit of a disappointment - most games we had didn't work with it and the few we had that did (Jill of the Jungle and Xargon) usually fared worse because of it - but PD2 sounded - and still sounds - gorgeous. We loved the game so much it basically is why our Shift buttons broke down.
This was particularly obvious with the scoring on Stall Turn, which of the 4 tables tended to be the most generous - high scores even reached 100 million - and then you find a vid of a guy who seemingly easily quadruples that score.

Re: Ye Ol' Games Of Yesteryear.
I've been doing the same (well, not Pinball Dreams II - but some of the games I was remembering)
I did find MACE: THE DARK AGE (which I mentioned previously) from my N64. I still have ETERNAL WARRIORS on SEGA.
I don't have PRIMAL RAGE which I see on ebay, for SEGA, reasonably priced. Which I may get since my SEGA still works.

I've got fond memories of Pooyan, Zaxxon, Dungeons of Daggerath, Downland, and Super Pitfall (all on the Tandy CoCo3).
