I know. It was kind of hard to avoid that one if you've been on the Bioware sites at all. I think they didn't really consider it a major spoiler, since it takes place during the prologue before you get too attached to them. However, I think it ruins the shock value of the event. I was quite surprised at the beginning of Awakening when Mhairi dies during her joining. They were careful not to mention that ahead of time, so it had a lot of impact.

It's hard to play games nowadays without something getting spoiled. I try to avoid going to sites where I'll read something by accident and you guys are good about using spoiler tags, but I still inadvertently spoil myself here and there.

Although I didn't have a problem with Justice in Awakenings and actually liked him, I don't like the Anders/Justice combination. It doesn't match my Awakenings ending and that ruins the feeling of continuity. :? Besides, it seems like kind of an odd choice. They seem like an unlikely union.

 Sadly, that's my one problem with DRAGON AGE, if nothing else. Because in Dragon Age: Origins, at the end, I sacrificed myself, because I thought Alistair needed to live to become the King he should be (Loghain or whatever his name was, was killed, so he wasn't an option). But come AWAKENINGS, despite this great memorial for me in Origins, I am apparently alive and fine now! ("I got better!")

Maybe you were found and brought back to life by some mysterious group with questionable ethics. It could happen... maybe. ;)

Yes, but at least they give you the option of starting a new character. You don't have to pick the dead one, if the continuity of it bothers you. You could have chosen to be the new Grey Warden from Orlais.

I think they did that for people who are really attached to their DA:O character and don't care about continuity.

Continuity from my Awakenings ending aside, the premise of bringing Anders into DA2 just doesn't make much sense, given the characters' personalities.

And I would have been cool with that!

True, but then I would have been devoid of all the choices I made - like Alistair (or however you spell his name - sorry DPX!) as King and such. So starting a new character would have robbed me of all that, and just given me whatever the new character starts with (I am not sure what the choices are if you begin a new character with Alistair's {or however you spell his name} status, Lohgain {or however you spell his name}, etc).

That's true. I hadn't actually tried it myself (until just now), but I see that they don't give you any option to use a save game to import those choices, which was a bit lazy of them.

I know... You figure with as many choices as they're throwing you... you figure they'd give you a chance to import that to have SOME impact.

But considering the awesome they produce... I can excuse it.

Actually, the developers swear that the the game will recognize your Awakening ending and that the Anders' opening dialogue will play out very differently based on your previous choices. David Gaided has stated very clearly that there is a reason why Anders is back (and with a spirit of Justice/Vengeance inside of him).

And Tawmis, I know you're bummed because you chose the Ultimate Sacrifice but even in this case they stated very clearly that, given Origins system, it was impossibile for them to make you import a save without actually importing a dead Warden. Many asked for an import feature which would only import the world setting (who's King, did the Dalish survives, who's in charge of Orzammar, etc.) but BioWare stated very plainly that wouldn't be possible without rewriting a great part of the game code. On the other hand, in DA2 they swear that the import feature works flawlessly.

See, I don't buy the whole rewriting the game code. In simple basic, it could be:

Import Save Game Info
If Warden = Dead, then Start New Warden.

I don't know that it would have been that hard. Like if you import your save, and have it in the code (that if the Warden = Ultimate Sacrifice, import save settings, begin new Warden).

If it was just Anders, I could see it working to some extent, based on what he says. In fact, I think the ending I had would have set him up to be in DA2. However, my ending with Justice implied that he travelled around for a great deal of time by himself in Kristoff's body. I'm not sure how they'd explain that.

However, even if they manage to explain the endings somehow, the personalities of the two characters don't seem such that they'd actually do that. At least they didn't to me.

If they can come up with some kind of reasonable explanation for it, I'm open to it. As a character, the new Anders/Justice combination sounds like it could be very interesting, but I just have my reservations of how it will fit in my mind with how Awakenings ended.

Overall, I'm not too concerned about it. We'll just have to see what happens. ;)

Well, to be completely hones, at this moment, we're still not completely sure that that Spirit of Justice is Justice, although is highly possible. In my epilogue, though, the character dropped dead pretty soon after the battle of the Dragonbone Wastes, so I really havo no idea how that Justice could be inside of Anders. For now, I will just trust the writer ;) s

The only explanation I can come up with is that Anders was somehow dying (either in combat or from some disease) and since Kristoff's body was decaying, they made a deal to merge. Other than that... I can't see either one of them really wanted to do it.

In my epilogue, Anders survived and apparently lost a drinking bet to the other soldiers. :P

Oh and the demo... Maia and I are looking forward to that, but then again, so is every other DA fan. I bet the servers will be so bogged down that download speeds will slow to a crawl.

I think it's because you're referencing a specific character who will be in DA2. :)
